Hiki-au Heiau is a temple where human sacrifices were performed. Pu'uhonua o Honaunau is a place of refuge, lawbreakers had one chance to escape the inevitable death penalty: Reach the area's place of refuge (third picture) before you where killed and all was forgiven.

Much of the big island isn't green and filled with palm trees, a lot of it is lava rock. South Point is very windy it's so windy that the trees grow sideways.

Hapuna Beach was awesome, go there. We had to go all the way to Hawaii to try these ice creams, Stephen's was the best!
